...could have been poured into Charade at Clermont-Ferrand so it becomes a Grade 1 circuit. It’s an even more epic track than Baku and still has some Tilkean features to appease Bernie The Horrible. But eh, this is F1 we’re talking about, so...
On the other hand, I think the track can be made longer.
Do away with the hairpin after T1. Just go straight and hitch up the roundabout at Manson, then use part of the old access road, now D767 (to be widened) until the right-hander, then turn it right a little harder until it rejoins T4, continue as usual until you reach the old 180-degree, which we’ll also do away with because we’re going back to the access road and just go straight on until the T-section. We’ll hitch up the the curved eastbound road to the right of the pic to make a long right, which will be followed up immediately by a left. Then the little road that connects the old layout to the new one will be widened and repaved to allow for a short stab, before a right kink back to the usual layout.

France is not yet an authoritarian dictatorship capable of lining Bernie’s pockets with millions in ill-gotten oil cash. So there’s that. Also, I’ve been to Baku several times (though not for about 8 years now). That bit of the track along the Caspian will be alright because it’s the main drag and a parade route. However the rest of the streets are going to be a nightmare. Many were/are rather narrow and I’m skeptical that the government can get away from their bribe-taking long enough to smooth them to race spec in time. This’ll be the first Formula 1 race held using off-road suspensions. But hey, at least all the journalists will be too afraid of going to prison to write about it.

I like it. A little Suzuka, a little Spa to it.

Charade should not be modified... the way it is right now is what makes it so great.

And back in 2005 I think... I did that with a friend on rFactor :)
Good ol’ times lol

Even the BGM is 2005.
I want to see you do this again.

But I’d like to see this repaved with smoother, stickier, more consistent tarmac.
No change to the layout, promise.

Yes it’s very 2005 lol.... thanks rFactor developers for having a handbrake button configured :)
When i say I’ve be sim racing for a long time, I’m not kidding lol.
I’d love to go do the same thing in an STI IRL though... I’ve never been to Charade though. It’s in a part of France where I pretty much never go lol

But what if I’m filthy-rich and confident I can pay for the repave (and/or expansion) and the event fees for six seasons?

Nah... it’s like wanting a”smoother karoussel”... it’s just not as nice. Look at what a”smoother lime rock” did to the track. Not fantastic really...

Would you conduct the repave on the backs of ill-paid workers? Will you be able to tear down historic buildings that are hundreds of years old? And don’t forget Bernie’s sex slaves...

C’mon, man. Just because I got the money doesn’t mean I don’t have a heart.
Fact is, this undertaking is the kind that will allow me to shove it down Bernie’s butt and the CVC’s collective throats.

In that case, I endorse this plan.

A true balance circuit, with the right corners in the correct sequence, plus amazing elevation changes, but is kinky enough to keep you on your toes.

Let’s bring the old one back. Actually, let’s not. It gave us Marko. Maybe we should because he gave us the wee-baby Max Verstappen?

Not sure what you meant by “I think the track can be made longer.” but it was the case up until 1989, although it was *much* longer (8km in total), going around the mountain.
It was an F1 track four years in the 60's and 70's.
